A list of qualified people will be compiled and may be used for additional temporary or indeterminate positions.JOB OVERVIEWThe Facilities and Programs section is responsible for several projects of varying scopes, such as the Rideau Canal Skateway, the Weekend Bikedays, the use of urban parks, the Capital Pathway and parkways, the site and asset rehabilitation and the monitoring and supervision of urban parks and spaces.As a Project Officer, Facilities and Programs, you will assist with the management of comprehensive year-round operational requirements and services, coordinate and direct the contracts, project operations and permit application review. You will interact with stakeholders and negotiate service delivery, operational requirements and restrictions with contractors, partners and clients. You will participate in the management of the material and financial resources related to your position.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a discipline relevant to the position such as Contract management, Landscape Architecture, Events Planning, Events Management, Events Production, Logistics or Horticultural or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.EXPERIENCE
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the following areas:

  • Working in an operational or event environment.
  • Administrating and managing many projects simultaneously.
  • Supervising and monitoring of contracts.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Of on-site monitoring practices for quality control.
  • Of event, park, land or maintenance management.
  • Of NCC’s urban lands site use guidelines.

ABILITIES

  • To analyze and resolve complex and changing issues.
  • To supervise onsite operations and provide direction to contractors and other stakeholders.
  • To establish priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in maintenance operations on a natural ice surface.
  • Knowledge of contract and budget management.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • To work in extreme weather conditions and irregular shift schedules during certain events.
  • To stand and walk for more than three consecutive hours outdoors.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Possess or eligible to obtain Reliability security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB.
  • Possess valid driver’s licence.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
  • The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment, all employees are currently asked to work on-site at least two (2) days per week.
