As a member of the Healthcare Evaluative Research team, the Senior Economist is responsible for conducting research and analysis in the areas of health services research and/or health economics to support health policy evaluation and development.How you will make a difference

  • Preparing academic research papers related to physician and population health interests;
  • Conducting analysis using large healthcare administrative databases, survey datasets, and external data sources as appropriate to address policy relevant research questions;
  • Collaborating with other departments in evaluating existing datasets and identify information gaps that need to be filled;
  • Preparing reports, presentations, and data visualizations for various departments, committees and other partners to explain research and analytic findings;
  • Developing and strengthen relationships with external partners to identify opportunities to share information, collaborate on projects and influence outcomes.

Requirements that are important to us

  • PhD in Health Servies Research, Economics, or equivalent;
  • 2-5 years’ relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated expertise with statistical/economic software, including SAS, STATA, and related applications;
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare system, OMA’s role, and key data/ information sources (e.g., CIHI, OHIP, OPRC).
