Campbellsville University invites applications for a tenure track position in Political Science beginning in August, 2024. The successful candidate must be able to teach broadly in the discipline with a teaching and research focus in American Politics. Candidates with the appropriate training, academic background, and experience to teach in American Political Institutions, Rural Development/Public Policy, or Diversity are especially encouraged to apply.

The candidate must have sufficient skill to be effective in a modern classroom environment. This includes the integration of a learning management system into course design, strong inter-personal and verbal skills directed towards the promotion of an engaged learning environment, and the development and implementation of curriculum that meets the needs of a culturally and academically diverse student body.

Responsibilities include:

Developing and teaching courses within their subfield, providing support to the university general education program by teaching American Government, maintaining availability to students through office hours and by appointment, assisting with the planning and/or implementation of Division- or Campus-wide lectures and events, and maintaining a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christian environment, broadly defined.

Primary course delivery will be in-person, although some online teaching will be required. 

Qualifications:

Political Science Ph.D. required at time of appointment, though advanced ABD may be considered. Expertise required in at least one of the following areas: American Political Institutions, Public Policy/Administration, Global Politics, Judicial Politics, Rural Development.Experience teaching at the college level required.A current CV and copies of transcripts should be submitted with application.
