THE UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE invites applications for one full time instructor position at the Instructor III rank in the Accounting area on our Calgary or Lethbridge Campus beginning on November 15, 2024. Other start dates may be considered if candidates cannot begin the position on this date. A concurrent search for another accounting academic staff member is occurring. While candidates will be considered for either the Lethbridge or Calgary campus, determination of what campus the position is located on will in part depend on the campus assignment for candidate chosen for the other position.
For either campus, preference will be given to those with experience teaching or background in analytics or technology in an accounting context. For those interested in a position on the Calgary campus, individuals with experience teaching audit, managerial, or financial accounting in addition to experience with technology or analytics will be of particular interest. For those interested in a position on the Lethbridge campus, Individuals with experience teaching taxation, managerial accounting, or financial accounting in addition to experience with technology or analytics will be of particular interest.
Instructor responsibilities may include, but not be limited to: instruction and assessment; course content updating; pedagogical and assessment improvements; course and curriculum development; active involvement in School and Accounting Area governance; and other service activities such as case competition coaching, participation in student related functions, and participation in CPA events.
Courses on the Calgary campus are taught during the evenings and on Saturdays. Courses on the Lethbridge campus are typically taught during the day, though some evening teaching may be needed. Some online or hybrid teaching may also be required.
Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree, and a Canadian CPA designation. A graduate degree is preferred, or equivalent experience. The applicant should have significant accounting work experience, and be willing and able to continue with limited ongoing accounting activities in a work or volunteer context to maintain their professional competence, as well as professional development activities to maintain their Canadian CPA designation. Teaching experience at the university or professional program level is desirable. A commitment to teaching excellence and engagement with students is required. The Dhillon School of Business is AACSB accredited and values both teaching and research excellence. We maintain close ties with the community through our experiential programs.
