Situated out of the busy centre of Cambridge and nestled in the countryside, anyone joining this team will get the best of both worlds. 🌳🚌And what they are doing is very special; they’ve developed (and recently launched!) a clean, sustainable global 21st century high-density energy storage system. ♻🔋The ONE Group are proud to have been instrumental in their growth and as they embark on the next part of their journey through scale-up, a crucial new hire.We’re on the lookout for a Development Engineer. This is likely to be a Chemical or Mechanical Engineer who has recently finished their PhD and wants to develop their career within a small (but growing!) R&D team in industry, scaling up technology and bringing their engineering strengths to the team.It could also be a more experienced Engineer – we are interested to hear what you can potentially bring to the table!The Role:

  • Joining a multi-disciplinary development team, provide Development expertise and support to Polymer and Electrochemistry Research Scientists
  • Lead projects focused on improving the technology
  • Lead validation of new technology, including scale-up and implementation into new prototypes
  • Develop creative solutions to improve a prototype’s KPIs
  • Generate new prototype concepts and carry out experiments to support their development
  • Be an active interface between the Research and Prototype Development teams

Must Haves:

  • Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree as minimum – ideally a PhD
  • Demonstrable hands-on engineering skillset, with an understanding of chemical systems and manufacturing processes
  • Process Development and optimisation experience, within pilot-line manufacturing
  • Experience scaling up technology and increasing TRL
  • Project Management experience
  • Start-up mentality
  • Experience with batteries, supercapacitors or similar is preferred
  • Happy to work on-site

The Package:

  • Depending on your level of experience, £40k -£60k
