Job description

You will work within the Cardiovascular Genetics group led by Professor Bernard Keavney, BHF Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine. The group has an internationally leading profile in cardiovascular genetics, in particular the genetics of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). We have recently identified several genes and regions predisposing to CHD through GWAS and genome-wide CNV characterisation. As a large group of postdoctoral researchers and students, we now require a dedicated Laboratory Manager to ensure the continued smooth running of the group.You will provide experimental and technical support with minimal supervision in a range of project specific research activities. You will make a major contribution to the overall running of the laboratory, including such matters as sample organisation and databasing, leading on material transfers with collaborators, assisting students and colleagues with experimental design, ensuring optimal organisation and pricing in consumables ordering, and taking responsibility for the laboratory’s equipment. You will manage the laboratory and will have opportunities to obtain training and further develop your capacities in research project management.Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party.
