Overview:Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division is looking for an GNSS Algorithms Engineer to join our organization focusing on network processing algorithms development, reporting to the Director of Positioning Services Algorithms. The network processing team is responsible for algorithms to process global and regional GNSS reference stations and modeling satellite as well as regional atmospheric errors for PPP and Network RTK services.The Location: Hexagon is a global company with offices around the world. This position is based in Calgary, AB. We will consider remote work in Canada for the right candidate. Responsibilities:As a GNSS Algorithms Engineer, responsibilities include:

  • Work in small teams to research, develop, and enhance industry-leading network positioning algorithms
  • Mentoring of junior members of the team to assist with developing solutions and problem solving
  • Interface with marketing, product managers, and the systems team to create robust and complete requirements, architectural designs, ICDs, and design documentation
  • Collaborate with verification designers to plan, execute tests, and develop automated test suites
  • Analyze data using graphical and statistical tools to evaluate solutions and identify and investigate software defects
  • Explore new advancements in positioning and find ways to incorporate them into our products and services

Qualifications:Must-Have:

  • M.Sc. in geomatics engineering, or related area
  • Experience with GNSS data processing, estimation, and positioning principals
  • Experience with RTK and/or PPP GNSS processing
  • Programming capability in C/C++, with demonstrated experience in debugging and troubleshooting
  • Critical thinking, data analysis and research skills to develop solutions
  • Innate curiosity, and a keen interest in all kinds of positioning
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to interface effectively and amicably with colleagues, including ability to work through teleconferencing and remote technologies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary and distributed team
  • Candidates legally able to work in Canada are preferred and international candidates will be considered

Key Success Factors:

  • Understanding and communication of concepts, algorithms, and data analysis
  • A solid understanding of GNSS systems and error sources
  • Understanding of estimation techniques (e.g.,. least squares, Kalman filtering)
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly and effectively
  • High focus on collaboration among cross functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and consideration for process
  • Adaptability and willingness to take on new tasks and challenges

Nice-to-Have:

  • PhD in Geomatics, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, or related area
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience, or equivalent experience at a research institute
  • Experience with PPP or Network RTK correction generation algorithms
