Proof of work

The team

We are bringing Kraken onchain. Our team has recently endeavored to explore how more protocols and decentralized applications can be integrated into the Kraken product suite. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to help write the future of Kraken’s onchain product strategy. This is a fully remote role with a focus on optimizing and innovating within the Ethereum rollup space, particularly to benefit DeFi applications built on the stack.

The opportunity

  • Innovate and Lead: High-impact opportunity to shape and build the onchain strategy of a leading CEX, focusing on rollup technology and DeFi.
  • Technical Excellence: Design, test, and implement protocol improvements to an Ethereum L2, with a focus on performance and efficiency.
  • Independent Research: Bring your own ideas and research to shape Kraken’s onchain vision, with opportunities for independent research and development.
  • Community Engagement: Attend conferences, network in the onchain ecosystem, and contribute to open-source projects.

Skills you should HODL

  • Proven track record as an Ethereum protocol developer: demonstrated experience in implementing protocol improvements to the Ethereum base layer or rollup stacks
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the Ethereum protocol, EVM, and various Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs).
  • Familiarity with multiple Ethereum Execution Layer clients (e.g., Geth, Reth, Nethermind).
  • Experience with various Ethereum rollup stacks.
  • Proficiency with leading blockchain and smart contract developer tooling (e.g., Foundry, ethers-rs, alloy-rs).
  • Ability to build scalable backend services, preferably in Rust or Go.
  • Up-to-date with the latest developments in Ethereum and rollup technology.
  • Technical leadership skills: mentoring others and helping to bring their ideas to proof of concept and beyond.
  • Proficiency in EVM Assembly, Huff, or an intermediate language such as Yul.
  • Experience with security auditing tools such as Slither, Manticore, Echidna.

Nice to haves

  • Proven track record of contributing to open source projects: some of your work at Kraken will be public.
  • Startup mentality and experience.
  • Experience interacting with and managing onchain user communities.
  • Knowledge of MEV and onchain arbitrage strategies.
  • Experience with non-EVM chains/ecosystems (e.g., Bitcoin, Dotsama, Cosmos, Solana).
