SALARY & HOURS: £32,587 (Lecturer A)/ Full-time (35 hours)The University of Buckingham is rightly proud of its distinctive features. It pioneered and continues to champion the first accelerated (two-year) undergraduate degree; and it provides students with a uniquely personalised learning experience through its small-group academic tutorial system and exceptional pastoral care provision.Within the university, the Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS) has grown since its foundation in 2008 to become one of the premier research and teaching centres in the field within the UK. It has also established a very strong international footprint. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Lecturer to join this team in further driving forward its research and teaching agenda into the next chapter of development. The post will supplement an existing team of 3.5 permanent academic members of BUCSIS. It will share in teaching a range of modules in security and intelligence studies, on our portfolio of programmes currently on offer, including our innovative BA in Security, Intelligence and Cyber; our MA in Security, Intelligence and Diplomacy; and potentially on a set of short and professional certificate courses for a range of customers in the UK and overseas.The successful applicant will ideally have a doctorate in a relevant discipline, or be close to completion. Experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be highly desirable. Applicants should also be able to display a creative approach to teaching; excellent organisational skills; and a commitment to Buckingham’s core values of unrivalled, personal support to students on their learning journey.Duties will involve teaching current content at BA and MA levels, and assisting the team with developing innovative new delivery methods, programmes and modules. Support as required for an emerging range of short and professional certificate courses for security and intelligence professionals may also be required. The postholder will also be expected to develop their research agenda in security and intelligence, helping to consolidate the team’s reputation as a highly reputable academic centre in the field.
