We are seeking an experienced CAD Manager for a well established consulting client of ours in the Vancouver area. The CAD Manager is responsible for managing the drafting operations related to land surveys. This includes overseeing CAD systems, developing and maintaining drafting standards, and ensuring that CAD deliverables meet the accuracy, deadline, and quality requirements of land surveying projects. The CAD Manager will lead a team of drafters to support survey operations and deliverables by providing support, training, and technical expertise for successful project delivery.Advantages

  • Advanced CAD Drafting: Lead the creation of detailed topographic drawings and legal survey plans using advanced CAD software, translating design concepts, sketches, or specifications provided by land surveyors, engineers, or other professionals.
  • Documentation Management: Spearhead the preparation and maintenance of accurate and well-organized documentation, including drawings, project files, and related records.
  • Drawing Standards Oversight: Ensure strict compliance with drawing standards, company protocols, and industry best practices to uphold consistency and quality across all CAD drawings.
  • Survey Data Integration: Manage the integration of survey data, including field measurements, GIS data, and point clouds, into CAD systems to produce accurate drawings and maps.
  • Quality Control and Standardization: Develop and enforce CAD standards, procedures, and best practices specific to land surveying. Ensure the consistency, quality, and accuracy of all CAD deliverables, including topographic maps, boundary surveys, and construction stakeouts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with surveyors, engineers, and project managers to interpret survey data and develop accurate and detailed project drawings that meet client and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of CAD drafters and survey technicians. Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and support to ensure timely and accurate completion of drafting tasks.
  • Training and Development: Provide ongoing training to team members on the latest CAD techniques, software updates, and land surveying best practices. Ensure that staff are proficient in creating survey-related drawings.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot CAD-related issues, ensuring efficient operation and problem-solving for technical challenges.
  • Workflow Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve the drafting process to streamline workflows and enhance project efficiency and output quality.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports on CAD team performance, project timelines, and any potential technical challenges. Communicate progress and concerns to senior management.
  • Communication Facilitation: Effectively communicate and coordinate with team members and stakeholders to clarify plan requirements, address queries, and ensure timely plan delivery.

Qualifications

  • Education: A diploma or degree in drafting, CAD technology, geomatics, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in a CAD Manager role, or equivalent.
  • CAD Mastery: Proficiency in advanced CAD software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, and AutoCAD, with the ability to produce accurate and detailed technical drawings.
  • Technical Drawing Expertise: Advanced understanding of technical drawing principles, conventions, and standards.
  • Attention to Detail: Impeccable attention to detail and a relentless focus on accuracy and precision in CAD drafting.
  • Communication Proficiency: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, convey technical information, and resolve drafting issues.
  • Time Management: Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving Aptitude: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve design-related challenges.
