Position Overview

WATAN has a project for shelter and non-food items (S/NFI) located in the Northern Syria in Idlib and Aleppo province, it includes the distribution of non-food items and shelter materials according to the requirements of the project contract.

the goal for this position is to assist in managing the project – Shelters and NFI activities – remotely from Gaziantep, with possibility to travel to Syria

  • Develop and implement activities as per the project’s objectives and outputs.
  • Complete deliverables in accordance to the specification and within timeline.
  • Represent Program and WATAN in relevant sectors.
  • Provide required information to relevant parties as dictated by contract and procedures
  • Participate in the development of new proposals by supporting the identification of partners, sectors, activities, developing BoQs, realizing assessments, etc.
  • Identify best practices and lessons learned.
  • Manage the S/NFI project team inside Syria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting:

  • Provide internal reports with complete, verified information on time.
  • Support the PD department in the production of external reports to donors
  • Produce fact sheet/success story on a regular basis to highlight the impact of WATAN activities on the field.

Project Cycle Management:

  • Identify, initiate, draft, and complete required MOUs and Amendments.
  • Oversee project implementation of all activities.
  • Initiate and oversee procurement process
  • Liaise with financial team to confirm project remains in good financial. standing and ensure accuracy of financial program forecasts.
  • Liaise with other local and international NGOs and/or others relevant actors (local authorities, public and private actors….) in order to ensure proper coordination and effective project implementation.

Project Development:

  • Develop project activity paper

  • Develop initial budget

  • Create project work plan and timeline.

    Adherence to All Applicable Regulations:

  • Collect necessary documentation for project completion and ensure compliance with WATAN’s and donors’ rules and requirements. Oversight of Implementing Partners:

  • Responsible for all project activities implemented by IPs (Integrated Projects) .

Develop Project Management tool and communication channels to ensure a regular flow of information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience leading teams in a humanitarian context for NGOs, UN agencies, or private sector companies at similar position.
  • 3-5 years of technical experience implementing S/NFI projects,
  • Additional technical experience in S/NFI development.
  • strengthening social cohesion, and value-chain or market analysis highly preferred.

Experience facilitating technical trainings and workshops related to NFI integration.

  • I/NGO experience preferred.
  • Personal qualities: works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Good experience in engineering and planning programs (AutoCAD, MS Project, STADD, ….)
  • PMP, or PMD pro certificate is preferred,
  • Fluency in English required (writing, reading, speaking), Arabic and Turkish will be a plus
