We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse expert in pain to lead our nursing team across the Royal Free London group. This leadership role will involve working in collaboration with all key stakeholders and as part of the Pain Management Service, with a clear focus on the nursing contribution to ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join an NHS service that is focussed on delivering the best healthcare services to the local population. Our ambition is to ensure that all patients receive world class care and have the best experience in acute and the chronic pain service.Main duties of the jobTo manage staffing across both inpatient and outpatient pain nursing, assisting the 8a inpatient and 8a outpatient nursing leads where appropriate.To lead pain nursing service development working alongside stakeholders including the Clinical Service Lead for pain.To lead pain nursing governance including clinical effectiveness, quality and safety performance, and risk management.To lead the specialist nursing/practitioner pain service through application of advanced clinical judgement and advanced knowledge of pain management and leadership.To be a clinical expert and hold ongoing responsibility for the delivery of high-quality patient care.To ensure that clinical outcomes and patient experience are at the centre of service design.To take responsibility, in conjunction with team members, for evidence-based practice.To initiate, develop and review policies and evidence-based practice in pain management.To be innovative with nursing practice in pain management both within the Trust and through local networks.To lead on education and training of pain management in nursing both in the pain service and across the Trust MDT.About ushe Royal Free combines globally recognised clinical expertise with local and friendly hospital care to represent the best in NHS treatment.   • Evidence of leadership in continuous quality improvement.
  • Experience of developing business and workforce plans in line with future service requirements
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of practice and policy across a broad range of responsibilities, e.g. financial systems & budgetary control, corporate and clinical governance, health & safety and human resources
  • Budgetary management skills
