As a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician you may rotate through various areas of pharmacy which could include primary care pharmacy, community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy departments learning key skills such as
- Dispensing prescriptions and understanding the different types of prescriptions
- Shadowing a Pharmacy Technician working in GP practices
- Understanding and using Standard Operating Procedures and risk management processes
- Understanding the uses of medicines in different clinical areas (e.g. diabetes)
- Stock supplies
- Undertaking audits
- Working with different IT systems
We are looking for diligent, enthusiastic individuals committed to improving patient care and working within the Pharmacy Team in all areas of pharmacy. Commitment to the completion of the required study is essential and you will require excellent organisational skills to balance the on-the-job requirementsand academic aspects of this post.You must have National 5 qualifications (or Intermediate 2 or Credit Standard Grades) at Grade A to C in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English/ESOL OR the equivalent SCQF level of qualification/award as a minimum. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
