Techniques range from those standard in medical practice (e.g., fitness measures, blood pressure, lung function) to current research techniques (cell culture, changes in gene expression). Students gain technical and analytical skills as they work at the bench to design and carry out individual and group experiments. Labs start in the first week of term.Estimated TA support: 110 hours (to be confirmed)
Estimated course enrolment: 24 studentsClass schedule: Lectures Thursdays 12:00 – 1:00 pm; Labs Tuesday 5:00 – 8:00 pm (in-person)
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025Salary (0.25FCE):Sessional Lecturer 1: $4,728.95.Sessional Lecturer 1(Long-Term): $4,965.40.Sessional Lecturer 2: $5,060.89.Sessional Lecturer 2 (Long-Term): $5,163.31.Sessional Lecturer 3: $5,181.38.Sessional Lecturer 3 (Long-Term): $5,285.01.All inclusive of vacation pay;*Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. (or equivalent) with a scholarly background and recent experince in areas related to the course, and recent experience in undergraduate teaching.Description of duties:

  • Co-preparing of course syllabus and course marking scheme
  • Co-planning and teaching weekly lectures and seminars
  • Providing office hours for academic counselling of students
  • Co-setting and co-marking assignments/exams
  • Co-administrating course in accordance with University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors
  • Co-supervision of TAs
