Role Overview:
As a Senior Backend Developer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our backend systems’ future. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance existing systems, develop new features, and ensure our platform’s scalability and performance. Your expertise in PHP and CodeIgniter will be instrumental in driving our growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Backend Development: Collaborate with the development team on backend architecture, framework upgrades, and new feature implementation.
  • Technical Debt Management: Address technical debt by maintaining, upgrading, and enhancing our backend systems while contributing to new functionality.
  • Framework Upgrades: Assist in the analysis and decision-making process regarding framework upgrades or transitions to optimize scalability and performance.
  • System Optimization: Ensure backend systems are scalable, secure, and performant to handle increasing client demands.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product managers, frontend developers, and designers to align backend systems with business objectives and project goals.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Optimize the backend infrastructure and ensure smooth operation in a cloud environment (AWS).
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to code quality, best practices, and continuous improvements in backend development.
Required Skills:
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with PHP and frameworks like CodeIgniter (5+ years), backend architecture, web development principles, system optimization, PostgreSQL, and scaling applications in AWS or other cloud environments.
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with other PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel), Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4-8 years of proven work experience as a Backend Developer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of both maintaining legacy systems and delivering new functionality in an agile environment.
  • Experience working on projects that have scaled significantly over time.
  • This role requires excellent written and verbal English communication skills. You must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English.
