JOB DESCRIPTION
The Air Navigation Bureau (ANB) in ICAO is responsible for providing technical guidance to the Air Navigation Commission (ANC), the Council and the Assembly. ANB provides technical expertise in aviation‐related disciplines to States, industry and all elements of the Organization. The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining and implementing the Global Aviation Safety Plan (GASP) and Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP), including its aviation system block upgrades as well as producing yearly safety and air navigation status reports. The Bureau develops technical studies and proposals for Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) for further processing by the governing bodies of ICAO and develops related procedures and guidance material. The Bureau also manages the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme Continuous Monitoring Approach (USOAP CMA).
The Multidisciplinary Priorities Section (MDP) is responsible for the coordination of multi-disciplinary priorities including Commercial Space Transport, and Higher Airspace Operations. MDP serves as the focal point for Innovation for ANB and is the entity that is responsible for implementing the bureau’s role as the coordinator for cross-organizational innovation initiatives. MDP studies emerging technologies and operations that do not fall under the scope of one of the technical sections of the Bureau. MDP supplements the efforts across ANB on New Entrants by developing a systems integration layer. It provides an analytical service to the Safety and Air Navigation Capacity and Efficiency (ANCE) Strategic Objectives. MP is also responsible for iSTARS and other tools, and develops regional dashboards
Reporting to the Chief MDP, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and managing the outreach initiatives in support for the organizations cross-functional innovation activities. The professional will be working in a team environment with business and technical resources as well as third party vendors.
Provides project management support the outreach initiatives related to establishing an inclusive dialogue with relevant stakeholders within the context of the organization’s innovation strategy, by:
- Organizing and implementing outreach initiatives, together with subject matter experts, including social media campaigns, and articles for the Unitingaviation.com web site.
- Identifying new stakeholders and providing them with relevant information about the ICAO innovation initiatives and activities
- Drafting and, when accepted, implementing proposals for enhancing the outreach to stakeholders including idea on new products and services.
- Serving on the cross-organizational team for organizing the ICAO Innovation events, and serving as liaison between that team and the various programmatic leads on innovation
- Organizing webinars on innovation.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of workshops on innovation
Manages various initiatives aimed at the development and enhancement of a culture of innovation within ICAO , achieving such results as:
- Providing information on innovation initiatives to colleagues within ICAO and guiding the through the various internal processes
- Proposing and, when accepted, implementing improvements to increase the enhancement of a culture of innovation within ICAO
- Organizing the internal brown bag sessions for ICAO staff to share their innovation and other ideas with peers
- Oversee the interface between the Innovation initiatives and related transformation objectives projects, including those on human resources and digitalization, ensuring that pertinent information is provided between them.
Provides project management and administrative support to the innovation initiatives , achieving such results as:
- Maintaining project information on the innovation activities
- Providing updates to external and internal stakeholders on the status of the innovation activities
- Proactively flagging issues and proposing resolutions to them with respect to meeting deadlines and expectations
- Performing administrative tasks in support of the daily operations of MDP section.
Perform other duties as necessary.
A first level university degree in Administration, Engineering, Law, International Relations, Public Relations, Commerce, Management or Marketing
Experience:
Essential:
- A minimum of 5 years’ in supporting innovation programmes
- Experience in organizing outreach activities including webinar and events
Desirable:
- Experience in working in supporting innovation programmes in an international organisation or aviation organisation
Essential:
- Proficient in project management, Microsoft office
Desirable:
- Proficient in customer management systems
- Ability to coordinate with other team members working as a group.
- Highly creative, motivated and detailed oriented.
- Highly organized with strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Interpersonal skills that create openness and trust among colleagues.
Essential
- Fluent reading, writing and speaking abilities in English.
Desirable
- A working knowledge of a second language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
Conditions of employment
It should be noted that this consultancy is to be filled for an initial period of twelve (12) months with a possibility of an extension. This is a full-time position.
Please note that the daily rate for Band B varies from CA$ 248 to CA$ 392.
