Position: Food & Environmental Services Manager  – Full-time 


Are you an expert in the kitchen and have a knack for fixing things?

Our home in Seaforth Ontario, is looking for a Food Services Manager who can also assist with overseeing the maintenance team. This is a full-time opportunity, split between both roles. 

Reporting to the Executive Director, this combined position will oversee both the Food and Maintenance department and is accountable for the hiring and performance management of departmental staff; staff development, including identification and delivery of department-specific orientation and training.

Food Services:

Food & Dietary Services within both the LTC and Retirement home to meet the nutritional needs of residents, and to ensure the effective and efficient preparation and delivery of food to the residents.

Environmental Services:

Overseeing of the general routine maintenance, and servicing operations throughout the home, keeping our home environment safe for residents and staff alike! This role manages the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments to achieve high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

FOOD SERVICES MANANGER

Daily Routine Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan, organize, and provide high quality dietary services for residents of the home.

  • Apply continuous quality improvement principles, best practice, and standardization to workflow, performance, production, and changes to service and dietary requirements to meet legislative requirements.

  • Select, supervise, and motivate dietary staff; ensure dietary staff works as a team, ensure high-level of productivity and best use of staff capabilities.

  • Ensure environment of all food preparation and storage areas meets Public Health requirements.

  • Maintain all records in accordance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, including the implementation and posting of all regular and therapeutic menus.

  • Liaise and consult with residents, families, team members, government officials, and professionals in relation to resident care needs and department activities.

  • Completion of required resident assessments as identified through the homes policies and applicable legislation.

  • Participate in the budgeting process; is accountable for the departmental budget and food costs.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M.) or a Registered Dietician required

  • Post-secondary education in dietary management and the successful completion of a recognized Food Services Program.

  • Minimum 2 years dietary management experience in long-term care setting.

  • Strong leadership skills to direct the work of employees.

  • Superb organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.

  • Experience managing employees within a unionized setting.

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety practices, principles, and legislation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

  • Customer-focused with high emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with clients.

    ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES MANAGER

Daily Routine Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of contractors’ work to ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations.

  • Preparation and management of departmental budgets; inventory management and control, including purchase of departmental supplies and equipment.

  • Full participation in leadership team activities and responsibilities, including participation on teams and committees, and reporting.

  • Manage all aspects of management of quality and quantity of services and products provided and produced by departmental staff.

  • Knowledge and application of departmental safety program as part of your daily duties.

  • Maintenance of records, statistics, and reports in accordance with home policies, and all applicable legislation and standards.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.

  • Formal training in building maintenance is an asset.

  • Health and safety certification is an asset.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and/or, if there are none, prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance, as applicable

  • Experience in a maintenance role within a resident or guest building with long-term care setting, preferred.

  • Experience in management of human and financial resources an asset

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French preferred.

  • Ability to complete a vulnerable sector check

  • Ability to workday shifts with some on call capabilities.

  • Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the job (standing for long periods, bending, lifting, etc.)
