Academics are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join an impressive team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting a young student with autism, ensuring they have the best possible educational experience. • Provide one-on-one support to a student with autism, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop essential social and academic skills.
• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering differentiated learning activities that cater to the student’s specific needs.
• Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and support the child in achieving their learning goals.
• Use a range of strategies to manage and support the student’s behaviour, promoting a calm and positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor and report on the child’s progress.
• Encourage the student’s independence, confidence, and social interaction with peers.
• Contribute to creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment for all students.

Academics are looking for:

• Experience: Previous experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
• Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
• Qualities: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
• Knowledge: An understanding of autism and effective strategies for supporting students with ASD in a classroom setting.
• Commitment: A proactive and flexible approach, with a strong commitment to inclusive education and the wellbeing of all students.
