As soon as possibleAbout the role:To lead, coordinate and develop curriculum programme interventions across the academy to ensure the learning needs of students with SEND are addressed in the most effective way and, where appropriate, they make rapid progress in line with the academy’s expectations.Key responsibilities· To develop the planning, teaching, and learning of alternative curriculum programmes.· To lead and develop and deliver a range of interventions such as mentoring, academic catch up and social skills groups.· To identify students who require additional support and ensure they are accessing the most suitable interventions.· To support the implementation of the reading strategy.· To lead and monitor the impact of reading interventions.· To secure meaningful experiences outside the classroom for students with SEND.· To deliver high-quality interventions.· To line-lead those delivering interventions.· To share termly data analysis for all students on the SEN register.· To track and monitor the impact of interventions.· To liaise with external companies to secure a high-quality alternative curriculum.· To be the first point of contact for a range of specialist services such as Speech and Language therapists and counsellors.· To be the first point of contact for parents and teachers who have questions or concerns about children with SEND.· To provide SEND students with appropriate CAIG that enables them to secure excellent destinations.· To keep accurate records for all students on the SEN and Pre-SEN register.· To support in the application of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).· To review and respond to Consultations from the Local Authority relating to new admissions for children with EHCPs.· To work with our local Primary schools to ensure an effective transition from Y6 to Y7.· To work with our local Sixth Forms and Colleges to ensure an effective transition from Year 11 to Post 16 education.Leadership· Leading on the early identification of students with additional learning needs.· Working with teaching staff and the pastoral teams to advocate for children on the SEND register and provide colleagues with the support to meet their additional needs.· Working with the Assistant Principal of Inclusion and Vice Principal fir Teaching and Learning to develop an alternative curriculum.· Working with the Assistant Principal of Inclusion to implement the reading strategy for those with reading ages significantly below their chronological age.· Lead and monitor the delivery of reading interventions.· Identify the training needs of staff delivering interventions.Teaching and Learning· With direction from the Assistant Principal and within the context of the Academy’s curriculum and schemes of work, plan and prepare effective teaching modules and lessons for reading programmes and alternative qualifications.· Deliver engaging and effective intervention lessons that motivate, inspire and improve pupil attainment.· Use regular assessments to set targets for students, monitor student progress and respond accordingly to the results of such monitoring.· To produce/contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual and groups of students.· Develop plans and processes for the classroom with measurable results and evaluate those results to make improvements in student achievement.· Ensure that all students achieve at least at chronological age level or, if well below level, make significant and continuing progress towards achieving at chronological age level.· Maintain regular and productive communication with students, parents and carers, to report on progress, sanctions and rewards and all other communications.· Direct and supervise support staff assigned to lessons and when required participate in related recruitment and selection activities.· Oversee and monitor the quality of provision maps as well as such as pastoral support plans, student profiles and maintain detailed information for subsequent meetings with parents· Collect and interpret specialist assessment data gathered on students and use to inform practice· Support developments and initiatives to improve standards in Literacy and Numeracy as well as access to the wider curriculumAbout you:· Qualified to degree level and above· Qualified to work in the UK· Experience of identifying, monitoring, evaluating and providing effective strategies for pupils with SEN· Experience of raising attainment of all pupils in a classroom environment· Effective team member and leader· High level of self-awareness and self-management in stressful situations· High expectations for accountability and consistency· Acts as a role model to staff and pupils· Vision aligned with Ark’s high aspirations, high expectations of self and others· Motivation to continually improve standards and achieve excellence· Excellent SEN practitioner· Effective and
