JOB DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To provide support to the health sector of government of Bangladesh and WHO/UN in building sustainable capacity by providing safe and defensive driving transportation facilities by adhering o all the applicable rules and regulations including protocol assistance.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Under the overall guidance of Compliance Officer and direct supervision of Executive Assistant (Protocol and Travel) and fleet despatcher, the incumbent performs the following duties:1. Provides administrative support to the NPO Field Security Officer2. Assist NPO Field Security Officer in ensuring WCO drivers are trained and apply safe and defensive driving.3. Maintain required databases such as updated guidelines, measures, standards and polices, staff lists, etc.4. Applies knowledge of driving regulations, safety requirements, traffic conditions, and most desirable routes to minimize travel time; ensures that rules, regulations and local requirements are adhered to in the event of involvement in an accident; ensures safety of the vehicle and its contents when parked or left unattended;5. Delivers/ collects diplomatic pouches, including completion of basic custom formalities; carries sufficient amount of cash to be incurred for clearance of pouches and keeps records of the same. Delivers / collects mail, documents, good / supplies, parcels and any other items, between the Organization and identified locations / destinations.6. Is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and cleaning of the assigned vehicle(s), cheeks gasoline, oil, water, battery, brakes, signal lights, tyres, etc.; performs minor repairs or adjustments such as fixing punctures, replacing signal light / wiper blades, cleaning or replacing spark plugs and adjusting carburetor; logs trips, mileage, gasoline consumption, oil changes, greasing and other servicing; maintain petrol consumption records;7. Visits banks to withdraw / deposit cash / cheques and collects bank drafts for the Organization etc;8. Ensure all traffic rules are maintain and required steps are followed in case of involvement in accident;9. Drives office vehicles for the transportation of WR and other authorized personnel;10. Meets official protocol personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required; 11.Performs other duties as assigned including photocopying, collecting of documents, as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Middle level education (at least eighth standard). Must hold a valid national ‘Professional’ driving license. Command in conversing in English
Desirable: Higher School Certificate, Knowledge of first aid training is desirable Safe/ defensive driving certification will be an asset. Formal certificate in vehicle maintenance; Computer certificate/knowledge on MS office will also be an asset.

Experience

Essential: Three years’ work experience as a driver with safe driving record.

Skills

Knowledge and ability to use internet to seek information on security update, traffic condition and safe driving.Trained in safe defensive driving and ability to train others.Must be in possession of a valid driving license; Must have provided evidence of good eye sight (vision); Sound knowledge of driving rules and regulations and security issues; Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor repairs of vehicles; Chauffeur’s courtesies; Knowledge of the topography of the duty station and the surrounding areas; Ability to read and write instructions and maps; Knowledge of safety standards and safety equipment first aid desirable; Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone and other applications; Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy and tact.Having legal documents (National ID cards and Driving License) with no mismatch in names and date of birth.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at BDT 1,145,828 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
