Main purpose of job:
Working as part of a team on a shift roaster. Security checks, including physical searches of all pedestrian and vehicle traffic and maintenance of security logs. Conducting patrolling duty both external & internal of premises and residence. Dealing with the public directly. Operating VHF and HF radio network and CCTVs.
Emergency reaction and prompt response to incidents and suspected movements/events to be able to deter threats and challenges. Conducting checks and procedures for screening post and parcels using on site equipment. Operating scanners and metal detectors to properly screen visitors and bags entering the compound.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- Working within a team under a chain of command. Conducts security procedures and protocols as per BHC security regulations. Conducts other tasks as directed by sergeants, Guard Force Commander and Post Security Manager and proactively seeks advice where required.
- Display clear respect to all staff. Be flexible to accommodate others and assist in the development of new or weaker team members. Makes suggestions on how to enhance working environment or procedures.
- Must be able to understand, speak and write English language.
- Will be able to communicate with, assist and deal with visitors, clients and unexpected visitors in English
- Ability, to conduct oral briefings and written reports. Write and convey reports of incidents to line management. Computer literacy is an advantage.
- Possess a personal desire to develop professional knowledge through personal professional development and obtaining relevant qualifications.
- Contributing consistently to the team’s goal for maintaining the safety of BHC premises, staff, visitors, residents and properties by applying professional conduct at all times.
- To be able to promptly & professionally respond to emergencies and ensure safe environment.

Basic Diplomatic Guarding Training. English Language Training. First Aid Training. Introduction to IT.

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC Candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 26,975 per month plus 12% Provident Fund and 6% Superannuation Fund.
Additionally, the BHC offers a great benefits package that includes annual domiciliary medical cover, plus a Group Hospitalisation Scheme with INR 500,000 floater cover for your immediate family which includes self, spouse/partner and children up to an age of 23years and irrespective of age, only if with, physical or mental disability.
No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.
Please note – BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Please note – Provident Fund Transfer in and out from EPFO is not possible as BHC PF is managed by a private PF trust governed by Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The staff still has the option to transfer out and in from a privately held PF trust which are not governed by EPFO.

BHC will not be able to sponsor work visas or obtain/ assist with the special work permit from GOI.
