Criteria for Nurse Practitioner Program Affiliate Membership

To be eligible for this appointment, the applicant must be a healthcare professional (Nurse Practitioner, Nurse, Physician, Pharmacist, etc.) with active membership with their respective professional order.

Eligible individuals requesting a first-time appointment are required to demonstrate involvement in the teaching and learning of Nurse Practitioner students through the following:

One (1) year non-contractual* involvement in the teaching and learning of Nurse Practitioner students within the past three (3) years AND planned continued involvement over the following (3) years. This includes involvement in one (1) or more of the following:

  • Teaching. Facilitation of small group teaching sessions; lectures in the area of expertise; facilitation or assessment in simulation sessions. At minimum 2 teaching activities annually.

AND/OR

  • Student Supervision. Supervision of at least one (1) NP student clinical placement (minimum 6-months).

AND/OR

  • Service. Active participation in a committee specific to the NP program AND active involvement in facilitating or promoting nurse practitioner placements.
  • Non-contractual is defined here as contributions made in the context of the individual’s own professional practice (i.e., unpaid by McGill) or on a voluntary basis.

This is a nil-salary appointment.
