We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking surgeon to join our department as a member of our Trauma and Orthopaedic consultant team.This will be a substantive position covering both trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery. The successful candidate will have a particular focus on hip surgery including both hip preservation and arthroplasty.CV required with application.Main duties of the jobThis is a full-time post (10 PAs), with on call commitments. The post will entail a major input into the care of trauma cases within the department and the elective surgery will focus on hip surgery including hip preservation and arthroplasty.The post-holder will agree a detailed job plan including personal and professional objectives with the Clinical Director once in post, but the job plan will involve trauma theatre, elective theatre, fracture clinic and elective outpatient sessions.The appointee will be expected to fully contribute to the administrative, teaching and research activities within the department. All consultants represent the department on various committees within the trust as well as taking responsibility for particular delegated areas according to their interests and availability. The Clinical Director is responsible for delegating these responsibilities.The appointee will contribute to the teaching of medical students and trainee Doctors and to participate in weekly postgraduate meetings of the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department as well as audit, governance and training meetings.The post is in the Surgical Specialties Division, which sits within the Surgery & Cancer Board. The Divisional Clinical Director is Professor Fares Haddad.
