Senior Research Assistants are normally graduate students, or University of Winnipeg undergraduate students, employed to assist in the execution and evaluation of research projects in their area of study. The positions may oversee Research Assistants in areas such as the use of proper techniques, analysis, and documentation.Senior Research Assistants work under the general supervision or direction of more senior researchers or faculty members, and are expected to exercise judgment in prioritizing, planning and organizing their own work within defined parameters.Position Overview:The senior housing research assistant will carry out housing policy research related to the goals and objectives of the Right to Housing Coalition under the supervision of the research team co-leads.Duties:The Senior Research Assistant will work in collaboration with the project leads to conduct research related to the research interests of the Manitoba Research Alliance and its partner the Right to Housing Coalition. Duties will include working with a team in all aspects of research including design, ethics review, primary and secondary data collection, analysis, report writing and knowledge mobilization.Qualifications:

  • Completion or near completion of an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in social sciences or planning with an emphasis on public policy in the Canadian context.
  • Research experience related to housing policy and an understanding of housing policy in Manitoba is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Social science/public policy research experience including data collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge about Canadian public policy and jurisdictional roles and responsibilities related to housing policy.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
