As a result, we provide a great deal of support to our excellent roster of tutors to help them create dynamic, modern and engaging lessons.We are looking for a dedicated, experienced and education-focused individual to join our team as Academic Manager. The role requires someone comfortable leading a diverse team of educators and will involve observing, mentoring and supporting a team of tutors from high-ranking universities across the world.Working closely with the rest of the Faculty Team and leading the Academic Team, the role will ensure that our high levels of educational instruction are maintained across all our programmes, both residential and online.Our courses are built on the Immerse Experiential Learning Framework, a forward-thinking, skills-focused approach that is in its infancy. The role will involve ensuring that this approach is firmly embedded across all programmes and offerings and that our pedagogical approach remains current and inventive.It is important to note that during the summer, the postholder should be prepared to provide a high level of out-of-hours academic support and problem-solving. The role will also involve visits to our UK locations during our peak delivery period in order to observe tutors and provide support for our seasonal Directors of Studies.During non-delivery times of the year, the role will involve leading on improvements, developing procedures, analysing feedback data and maintaining communications with our faculty pool.This is a diverse role that will see the successful candidate take ownership of the academic output of our programmes from design to delivery.Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that a high quality of learning takes place on Immerse programmes by leading the planning, implementation and academic delivery of in-person programmes
  • During delivery periods act as line manager for Directors of Studies, ensuring that they are providing beneficial support to tutors, completing observations and working towards the goal of excellent lesson delivery
  • Embedding the Immerse Experiential Learning Framework across all Immerse programmes, both residential and online
  • During the summer, visit all UK locations on a regular basis, in order to provide academic oversight for that area
  • Ensuring that 100% of in-person tutors are observed during all delivery periods, providing feedback for tutor development
  • Oversee the academic quality of Immerse’s online programmes, including quality assurance observations of online sessions
  • Ensuring tutor content such as course overviews and participant evaluations are received on time and approved, processed and shared with participants in a timely manner
  • Ensuring timely and adequate provision of academic materials required for the effective teaching of our programmes
  • Conduct language tests or consultations for potential students when necessary
  • Ensuring that students’ satisfaction with the academic programme exceeds high expectations
  • Overseeing the academic development of new courses and implementing learnings and improvements for existing programmes
  • Host professional development sessions for tutors
  • Develop a year-round plan for engagement with our faculty pool (e.g. newsletters, attending social events and offering student referral opportunities)
  • Supporting the researching, designing and producing of new curricula to meet the demands of a rapidly changing educational landscape
  • To maintain up-to-date knowledge of and disseminate information on new educational and other initiatives
  • To attend appropriate training conferences and foster your own professional development

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrable experience in working to tight deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and attention to quality and detail
  • Ability to solve problems and successfully engage with appropriate technical and internal resources
  • Ability to make sound decisions quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to show initiative and a readiness to take responsibility
  • You must be highly organised with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic
  • IT skills – we’re a very forward-looking education company and expect all of our team to be familiar with using technology such as Google Suite, Adobe, Wordpress, Asana, Slack and Salesforce.
  • Advantageous: Professional experience working in a similar role, and experience of working with an LMS
  • Advantageous: Experience working in an operations-based role
  • Essential: PGCE, CELTA, DELTA or other educational qualification with observation experience
  • Essential: At least 3 years in-person teaching experience
