Given that communications and advocacy cut across all the programmes, the activity provides valuable inputs to individual programmes, and supports and guides strategic communications on all important public health matters. The overall work aims to facilitate increased awareness of Member States of WHO policies and public health issues in general, timely information that is reliable and up-to-date that helps WHO to gain public and Member States’ support for achieving WHO’s goal of an informed community and a fully aware public about WHO’s work.
Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Chef de Cabinet and overall guidance of the Regional Director, the incumbent will perform the following functions:
- In consultation with the Publication Information and Advocacy team, develop and execute communication strategies to enhance internal and external communication channels.
- Facilitate and oversee management of the organization’s digital communication platforms, ensuring consistency and relevance of content.
- Collaborate with Technical Units to draft and finalize speeches and articles for the Regional Director, that are technically accurate, provide clear messaging and advocacy points, and deploy effective rhetoric.
- Review and finalize the various speeches, advocacy messages and inputs from the Regional Director for updating on the RD’s webpage, clearly reflective of the uniformity in style as well as any last minute changes or additions.
- Carefully review and ensure compliance with data protection regulations in all digitization and communication content for the WHO Regional Office posted on the social media.
- Finalize the ‘forewords’ on behalf of the Regional Director in technical and other publications.
- Design and develop a comprehensive brand strategy for the WHO, Regional Office for South-East Asia Coordinate with various Technical Units to develop and execute digital campaign strategies aligned with Organization’s missions and objectives as well as Regional Director’s vision.
- Create engaging and innovative designs for various digital platforms, including social media, websites and other online channels.
- Facilitate generation of multimedia content, including images, videos, and interactive elements, to enhance digital campaigns and user engagement and ensure visual and written content align seamlessly.
- Any other duty as may be assigned
Required Qualifications:
Education
Essential:
- University degree in social sciences, communication and/or journalism from a recognized university.
Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including some experience obtained in an international context, in the field of journalism and development sector communication.
Skills:
- Excellent writing and editorial skills. In-depth knowledge of communications approaches, tools and methodologies essential to planning and executing effective campaign strategies and programs. Ability to keep abreast of available technology.
Language Skills:
Essential:
- Expert knowledge of English.
