The division is a leader in the fields of ex-situ organ perfusion and transplantation and seeks to continue to improve these technologies through ongoing research in the division.PositionSenior Postdoctoral Fellow PositionThe Nagandran laboratory is looking to fill a position for a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow, having at least two years of experience in a Canadian laboratory. This project involves collaboration with an industry partner to develop small-molecule drugs that can treat and manage adverse immune events in transplant patients. The successful candidate should ideally have demonstrated leadership skills in areas both within and outside of the lab, as well as mentored junior staff. Research expertise in the areas of molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry or physiology is valued, and in particular, experience working with mouse models that can include primary cell culture and surgery. We are looking for a researcher able to both propel their own research project and help manage diverse complementary research efforts from lab team members as well as industrial collaborators.Junior Postdoctoral Fellow PositionA Junior Postdoctoral Fellow position (within a year of graduation with PhD) is available to develop new molecular and cellular assays to characterize a novel approach to small molecule drug development for immunotherapy to treat solid tumors. The candidate should ideally have a background in immunology, molecular biology or pharmaceutical sciences. The responsibilities of this position will include working effectively with lab team members as well as industry collaborators to advance the development of small molecule candidates towards the clinic.Duties
- Cell culture
- Animal handling
- Screening of novel molecules in an animal model
- Analysis of tissue and blood samples
- Performing functional assays (T cell, NK cell activation)
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a related area, with research expertise as outlined above.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with small animals for experimentation
- Experience working with cell lines and culture
- Experience working with pharmaceutical molecules/drugs
- Experience with functional assays such as T cell or natural killer cell activation
