DescriptionThe University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for an academic position within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. This position is a part of the Alberta Academic Medicine and Health Services Program (AMHSP).This position is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, comprising of approximately 50% time for clinical service and 50% time for academic pursuits divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).The successful applicant will join the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology comprised of 10 pediatric gastroenterologists and a multi-disciplinary health care team who primarily provide clinician care at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, and consultative service throughout the Edmonton Zone facilities. The division provides complete GI, hepatology, liver and intestinal transplant, and nutritional services to an expansive referral area including central and northern Alberta, and the Northwest Territories. The Stollery Children’s Hospital is also the Western Canadian pediatric liver and intestinal transplant referral center.This role would provide support to existing inpatient and outpatient services with a focus on general GI outpatient care and the Edmonton Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic (EPIC). The EPIC research group has numerous ongoing studies and active grants and a national leadership in the emerging role of Pediatric Intestinal Bowel Ultrasound (IBUS). The team is now a lead center in Canada for the training of new IBUS physicians. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels and engaged in research in several areas of expertise.As we build our team, the Department of Pediatrics recognizes that our people are and will continue to be our greatest strength. - MD degree (or equivalent)
- Completed subspecialty training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Gasteroenterology

- Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
Considered an asset:
- Additional training/expertise in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease and training/certification in trans abdominal bowel ultrasound is highly desirable.
Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.Academic members of the Department of Pediatrics are eligible to become members of the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI) which supports research excellence dedicated to improving the health of children and women.
