Participates on internal and external project teams, including the design engineering, site engineering, regional operations teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, policies and procedures within a diverse scope. On call on a rotating basis.ResponsibilitiesSystem Operation and Work PracticesOperating knowledge of control systems to include diagnostics and repairsAbility to apply knowledge of Equinix process and procedure and industry standards to resolve diverse issuesUses safe working practices (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, familiar with MSDS, etc.)Problem SolvingSolves diverse, cross-functional issues requiring action and initiative to resolveImplements and makes recommendations for system level improvements to eliminate potential problemsTests suitability of components for deploymentsInternal/External ContactParticipates in projects or initiatives including General Contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.Multi-functional SOP development and relevant technical writingInteractions are primarily to exchange information between departments within the organizationMay include executive level communications in standardized templatesTechnical ExpertiseUnderstanding of typical data center electrical, fire protection, and HVAC system operation including typical optimization strategies and typical deficienciesControls system knowledge, P&ID, SOO, controls schematics.Ability to run query in SQL and interpret relevant dataHMI and PLC programmingPID tuningDevelop Policy/MethodsParticipates in review of policy and procedure documentsAssess Adherence to PolicyAssures consistency to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in data center commissioning activitiesQualifications5+ years professional controls engineering diagnostic, repair and design experience to include HMI programming, Windows network level authentication, and PID tuningPreference for environmental/HVAC systems experiencePreference for critical facilities, especially data center, experiencePreference for BSEE degreeKnowledge of AVEVA system platform and Allen-Bradley PLC is a plusEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
