Winrock is seeking candidates for Finance and Accounting Assistant to implement day-to-day, finance and accounting tasks for the USAID Improved Access to Safe Drinking Water in Liberia Activity. The USAID/Liberia-funded Activity will strengthen water sector governance, create scalable models for equitable water service delivery, and mobilize collaborative action to improve access to clean water services. The purpose of the project is to move Liberians in Montserrado and Margibi counties to a basic level of water services. The Activity began on November 1, 2022, and will end on October 31, 2027.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct daily financial tasks, including preparing vouchers in QuickBooks, reviewing receipts and other documentation, processing cash and bank payments, reviewing expense reports, preparing monthly payroll, reconciling bank accounts in QuickBooks, and other accounting
  • Assists with monthly and quarterly field financial
  • Maintain adequate financial and administrative records and documents including payroll/timesheets and
  • Scan and properly file all financial documents in the appropriate SharePoint folders.
  • Manage petty cash
  • Prepare projections for monthly cash needs
  • Maintain proper records of project assets (expendable, non-expendable, and consumables), which are identified, properly tagged, and verified regularly.
  • Track and maintain VAT (as applicable) and tax-related
  • Support the finance team’s efforts to ensure the project’s adherence to local laws, USAID regulations, and the project contract.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education:       

  • B.S. or equivalent university degree in accounting.

Experience:     

  • The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting of donor-funded programs (USAID experience strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with the USAID procurement process is strongly desired
  • Excellent computer software skills in MS Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with fluency in English required
