Research Technician, Cancer ClusterOverviewThe Anderson lab, located in the Cancer Cluster at the University of Saskatchewan, is seeking a skilled Research Technician to support cancer research initiatives. This position involves hands-on laboratory work, mentorship opportunities, and operational responsibilities to ensure a well-organized lab environment. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred) and bring technical expertise in research methodologies.Key Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory research, including cell culture, Western blots, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and animal models of cancer.
- Work independently on assigned projects and as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with Dr. Anderson and other team members.
- Mentor and assist students in laboratory techniques, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Manage ordering, maintain accurate purchasing records, and reconcile expenses.
- Perform general lab housekeeping duties, including maintaining inventory and ensuring the lab is stocked and organized.
- Support experimental design, data collection, and analysis, contributing to impactful cancer research.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in similar role. Proficiency in cell culture, Western blotting, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, and animal models.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GraphPad, familiarity with PCard processes, and adherence to lab safety protocols.
- Additional Skills: Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and effective time management. Strong interpersonal skills for communication with Dr. Anderson and team members.
