WRI India is seeking an intern for the Sustainable Cities and Transport Program to support our work on decarbonizing freight. The objective of the project is to develop a zero-emission vehicle transition plan for The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (SUPPLYCO).​ The outcome of this work is to develop a transition framework for government owned/controlled fleets.  

How your day will unfold: 

  • Manage on-site implementation and vendor co-ordination for ongoing and upcoming pilot projects.
  •  Engage with city agencies and non-government stakeholders – scheduling and attending meetings.
  •  Undertake preparatory work for convenings and events.
  • Preparation of technical notes, site reports and presentations.
  • Develop media content and support external communications/outreach for program activities. 
  • Support community engagement by participating in workshops and campaigns to build awareness.

Skills and requirements that we seek:

  • Graduation or Post graduation in Ecology, Life sciences, Geography, Urban/ Environmental/ Development Studies, Public Policy or allied fields.
  • Background in environmental and/or social studies is highly recommended.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in the relevant field project implementation and community engagement experience.
  • Strong research, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is a requirement. Good working knowledge of other creative and analytics software (Abode, GIS, Python, R etc) is recommended.   
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to think creatively and present complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work calmly and enthusiastically under pressure
