The post is full time and the indicative job plan is for 10 PAs, though applicants wishing to work part time will also be considered.This post will cover a number of general Rheumatology clinics. Applicants with the same or complementary subspecialty interests will be considered equally. Supporting the Consultants are a Specialty Doctor, Specialty Registrar, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and a Secretarial Team.There is no General Internal Medicine component to this job.The Department has broad clinical interests with particular subspecialty interests in early inflammatory arthritis, systemic vasculitis, ultrasound and osteoporosis. A full range of services is provided, including paediatric rheumatology (with a visiting consultant from Birmingham Childrens Hospital) and adolescent rheumatology clinics. The department has considerable expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and a dedicated diagnostic ultrasound machine.This post will consist of 10 PAs to deliver both inpatient and outpatient Rheumatology services. SPAs will be used both for personal and departmental development.The 10 PAs will comprise as follows:Direct clinical care (DCC) 7.5 PAsSupporting professional activities (SPA) 2.5 PAsThere is no weekend working but where relevant there will be consideration of time off in lieu.There are no on-call commitments. - Full GMC registration with Licence to Practice, and on the specialist register in rheumatology with proven skills and up-to-date experience in rheumatology Or Full GMC registration and within 6 months of obtaining specialist registration at the time of interview via CCT, CESR or European Community Rights.
- MRCP or equivalent

- Higher degree (MD or PhD )
Clinical ExperienceEssential
- Experience in the management of a broad rheumatology caseload, and appropriate subspecialty training.
- Experience in managing vasculitis and/or connective tissue disease in a specialist centre
