This role will lead the strategic direction for the Academy and is responsible for providing strategic, academic, research, commercial and operational leadership to run and grow the BGIUK Clinical Training Academy. Leading a dedicated CTA clinical education, commercial and operational team, this role will lead the delivery of world class high quality and engaging learning experiences that support our BGIUK clinical community, commercial growth and Bupa strategic aims. It’s an exciting time to join Bupa as the Academy opens it’s doors to in person, remote and virtual learning experiences. It is co-located with the Bupa Campus and will require collaboration and cross functional working on key learning initiatives and events, with both Group and the BU’s.The Clinical Training Academy will deliver innovative learning platforms both physically and virtually connecting clinical teams across all BGIUK business units as well as developing commercial learning offerings and events and development of clinical research support and governance. The ideal role holder will bring senior level experience and expertise in the leadership at national or corporate level and multidisciplinary clinical education, training and development projects / curriculums including sim labs, and a strong knowledge of UK research governance, healthcare and clinical education regulations. The role will be well versed in the current and future clinical (educational) landscape and bring a passion for delivering world class experiences for learners, along with a curiosity and passion for the future growth. The ideal role holder will bring a level of thought leadership and experience in the use of data analytics and digital tools that can revolutionise clinical learning solutions and connected learning across multiple clinical communities, disciplines and teams.The Clinical Training Academy (along with Bupa Campus) will be a key enabler of:

Working with our clinical leaders / clinical education and learning and development teams across all BGIUK businesses this role will lead, establish and deliver a learning strategy for the CTA. They will evolve, manage and co-ordinate CTA curriculum, events and activities and associated partner management and commercial offerings. Every learner experience should meet or exceed expectations and harness a culture where people want to learn and develop because the environment, offering and delivery is exceptional. Alongside this there will be an eye on the future as The Academy will also be a hub for innovation and trying new approaches to sustainable healthcare, digital led workflows and technology based learning, utilising VR, AR and AI.This role is critical to the success of the Academy and delivering on future ambitions. - Responsible for effective leadership, management and development of the CTA, maintaining an innovative and high-quality portfolio of learning that aligns with Bupa’s strategy. Lead, manage and develop the achievement of excellence and innovation in clinical education and research in line with both Bupa’s purpose and external trends.
- Develop learner-centred activities, clinical education innovation platforms, research-led initiatives and to undertake regular horizon scanning opportunities to enhance the CTA portfolio.
- Effective financial management and the effective deployment of resources.
- Responsible for the development and promotion of a clear sustainable strategic vision for the CTA’s future development.
- Identify & nurture relationships with external education partners and suppliers supporting the CTA ambition and priorities.
- Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships and represent the CTA (as and when required), with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and organisations.
- Ensure that the activities of the CTA are undertaken in accordance with the governance, policy and regulatory frameworks through effective quality assurance and governance
- Meet commercial and financial targets assigned to the CTA annually.
- Line Manage the CTA team and work collaboratively with the Bupa Campus Lead
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure successful development and progress.
- Chair a global community of practice to understand priority areas of focus and together build the future vision and priorities for learning at Bupa
- Through the community, acting as the conduit to understand, share and grow internal best practice, and to provide thought leadership and maintain ongoing knowledge of external best practice
Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:
- Current healthcare professional registration (e.g.: GMC, NMC, GDC etc)
- Masters level degree or above
- A specialised qualification in clinical education, such as a Postgraduate Certificate (PG Cert) in Clinical Education
- Good Clinical Practice (research) training
- Senior leadership experience working across and leading multiple clinical professional and disciplinary teams in diverse healthcare organisation’s
- Experience in clinical simlab/sim training (desirable)
- Strategic / leadership level experience in clinical education, academia and clinical research, clinical development and commercial development
- Leading edge expertise on delivering learning at scale in a large matrix organisation
- A thorough understanding of different learning methodologies in order to design appropriate learning interventions
- Strong experience managing and implementing digital learning systems
- Track record of success in designing and developing effective clinical learning solutions aligned to business strategy and best practice standards
- Experience of delivering large scale clinical related projects in a professional or academic setting
- Experience of leading and managing teams across multiple settings
- Experience in leading the design, development, and implementation of clinical training curriculum and courses.
