The Role:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Lead and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department, overseeing curriculum development, teaching and learning, and assessment.
  • Teach Modern Foreign Languages (e.g., French, Spanish, German) across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on your specialism and experience.
  • Mentor and support a team of MFL teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing department.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the MFL department, ensuring it aligns with the school’s overall vision and goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning in MFL, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the department’s budget and resources.
  • Promote language learning and encourage student participation in language-related extracurricular activities.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Possesses a strong academic background in Modern Foreign Languages, with a relevant degree from a reputable university
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Is a practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and its values.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of successful MFL teaching and leadership in a secondary school setting
  • Is an enthusiastic and engaging leader with a genuine passion for languages and cultures and a desire to inspire young minds
  • Has excellent subject knowledge across all key stages and language specialisms
  • Is committed to fostering a love of learning and promoting intercultural understanding in all students
  • Possesses excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Is a reflective practitioner who is committed to continuous professional development
