Start date 1 September 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.The Faculty of Theology and Religion and Mansfield College are together seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Contemporary and Systematic Theology. The successful candidate will give lectures and classes to both undergraduate and Masters students, will supervise doctoral students and give tutorials to undergraduates, will act as an examiner at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and will provide leadership on committees for both the Faculty and the College and, for instance, by raising grant funding.The successful candidate will have:

  • A completed doctorate in any field relating to Historical, Systematic or Contemporary Christian Theology
  • Published research of international excellence in Historical, Systematic and Contemporary Christian Theology
  • Well-developed plans for significant research projects envisaged for the five-year period following appointment
  • Demonstrated ability in teaching and supervision of research in all three areas of Historical, Systematic and Contemporary Christian Theology
  • Experience of, or demonstrable commitment to, raising research funding
  • Evidence of the ability and commitment to participate effectively in the wider academic activities of both the College and the Faculty.

The Associate Professor will be a member of both the Faculty and College communities. These form a lively and intellectually stimulating research environment where scholars perform to the highest international levels in research and publication, drawing on the outstanding research facilities which Oxford offers.
