Our extensive experience, connections, and deep expertise across different sectors, industries, and transportation modes, means we can be counted on for process excellence that will save time and money.The Operations team lead – Canada will be responsible for the operational planning and execution of the Middle Mile brokerage team under MAERSK Ground Freight Services in Canada, ensuring operational excellence.At first, this role will involve individual contributor tasks, such as shipment/account handling and execution. With new businesses being awarded, your role will transform and become a full team lead role.You will assist in training and shaping the knowledge and performance of the team, including key metrics such as on-time pick-up, on-time delivery, timely invoicing, cost reduction e.t.c. As a Team Lead you will furthermore help drive a continuous improvement mindset to enhance the operational performance and vendor management.Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the performance of the team as it relates to operational excellence metrics including financial operations tasks.
- Supporting head of full Mile operation’s strategic initiative.
- Perform day to day activities alongside front line colleagues to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Create and document processes, identify gaps and create solutions.
- Manage and develop improvement plans for team metrics
- Identify and implement sustainable solutions for possible service failures through root cause analysis
- Develop the team’s competencies through challenging and stretching assignments.
- Building relationships with our 3rd party vendors and initiate discussions on vendor performance.
- Work with our product and pricing team on new opportunities and support with customers onboarding
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (advanced degree or MBA preferred) in any of the following disciplines: Logistics, Distribution, Engineering, Industrial Management, and Finance
Technical Skills and Competencies:
- 5+ years of Ground freight operations.
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong analytical skills and P&L management experience
- Ability to train, coach, evaluate and mentor
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal, written and presentation)
- Ability to build good working relationships (internal and external)
- Self-motivated, who can complete tasks without supervision
- Organizational and Time management skills: multi-tasking and prioritizing, planning work activities efficiently to meet deadlines and high-level goals
- Team player with proven ability to work under pressure
- Strong and current knowledge of technology platforms, MS Office products, and ability to quickly adapt to new software
- Ability to travel 25%
