Salary: Internationally CompetitiveLocation: South Kensington Campus – HybridJob SummaryThe Department of Computing at Imperial College London invites applications for up to six permanent academic positions at the levels of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor and Associate Professor ranks in the United States, respectively,) based on suitable experience. These appointments are part of the Department’s ambitious strategy to expand its research and teaching excellence in critical and innovative areas of computing and technology.   • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, including generative AI, machine learning, reinforcement learning, symbolic AI, safe AI and explainable AI.
  • Computer Graphics & Computer Vision, including augmented and virtual reality, fabrication and design, neural rendering.
  • Quantum Computing and Quantum Information, including algorithmic and theoretical aspects.
  • Software Engineering, including AI for software engineering and software engineering for AI, software design, testing and analysis, and empirical software engineering.

While these areas are of strategic importance to the Department, we will also be happy to include truly outstanding candidates in all areas of Computing.Duties and responsibilitiesYou should be motivated to join a collaborative and vibrant research environment, with a strong enthusiasm for pursuing cutting-edge research by leading or contributing to a research area at the highest level of scientific rigour, fostering scientific collaborations within the Department and across the Faculty and College, and securing grant funding to lead your research vision. A large part of this role will be teaching and inspiring our exceptional and dedicated undergraduate and postgraduate students, through lectures, tutorials and project supervision. You will be surrounded by a supportive community, dedicated to make meaningful impact.Essential requirementsTo be successful in this role you will have:

  • A PhD in Computer Science or related field or equivalent.
  • A developing international reputation and expertise in the field of Computer Science or related field.
  • A portfolio of research publications, confirming international standing (commensurate with career stage).
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey ideas and concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A high level of analytical capability.
  • A collaborative mind and the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • The ability to develop skills in leading, motivating, developing and managing the performance of colleagues.
  • The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
