Our faculty, staff and leadership are dedicated to providing students with an exceptional learning experience.About the ProjectIn the fall of 2023, the Child and Youth Care Counselling (CYCC) program filmed asimulation video which is now being used in multiple courses across the program. Thesuccess of this video highlighted the need for further simulation videos displaying theunique intervention and counselling skills used in the field of CYCC. Many videos usedin counselling courses show these skills being used in a one-on-one office setting, where in the field of CYCC, the skills are used in a multitude of contexts. Interventionsin CYCC practice are not always formal; we call this working in the person’s life space or therapeutic milieu(Feilberg, 2007). For example, CYCC’s may use these skills while driving to an appointment, doing chores around the home, or spending recreation time with the child, youth, and/or family. At this time, there are no videos available which simulate these experiences. This project aims to fill these gaps through the creation of CYCC counselling skills simulation videos.About the RoleThe research assistant will begin October 15th, 2024 and will be supervised by Jill Thompson (she/they), Assistant Professor in the department of Child Studies and Social Work.
