The IWK is inviting you to be a part of an innovative team of ANS mental health and addiction (MHA) professionals who will engage and work directly with ANS children, youth and families. The ANS team will explore new ways to engage the community and improve our MHA programs capacity and response in the provision of mental health and addictions services. We are looking for someone who is motivated and interested in responding to the ANS community needs with the goal of improving our overall mental health and addiction services.Reporting to the Clinical Manager of Community Mental Health and Addictions (CMHA), the Clinical Interventionist will work as part of an interprofessional team within the African Nova Scotian Service. Clinical Interventionist will work with healthcare professionals including Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, In-Home Support Youth Care Workers, Community Navigators, Recreation Therapists and Psychiatrists. The Clinical Interventionist will work with children, youth and families, utilizing a culturally relevant and evidenced informed approach to deliver care to children and youth up to 19 years of age in an ambulatory clinic, outreach or community-based setting.Hours of WorkMonday to Friday; 8:30am – 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week). Some evening work and flexibility may be required.Your Qualifications
- Master’s degree in clinical psychology, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy or Master’s degree in behaviour analysis or education with Board Certified Behaviour Analysis (BCBA) Certificate.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, with the appropriate professional body in Nova Scotia required. NOTE: If the successful candidate is master’s prepared and does not have a registration body (i.e. licensing association or college), ongoing supervision by a Master’s or PhD level licensed health care professional is required and will be provided.
- Knowledge and awareness of the African Nova Scotia community and youth serving organizations required.
- Experience working in a pediatric mental health and addictions setting preferred.
- Experience in conducting assessments and developing treatment plans and interventions.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement and monitor psychological programming to promote skill development to enhance social-emotional functioning
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team in a variety of settings; ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills; both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain internal/external partnerships.
- Demonstrated excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills. .
- Demonstrates understanding and commitment to family centered care.
- Current successful completion of CPR Level-C Healthcare Provider or Basic Life Support (BLS) course within the las 12 months.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification (NCI)
- Competencies in other languages an asset.
