Applications are invited for a fixed term Consultant Radiologist. This is a full time post for a General Radiologist. It is intended to be whole-time, but applications would be considered from candidates wishing for personal or domestic reasons to work part-time.The successful candidate will join the existing establishment of 18 Consultant Radiologists in providing a comprehensive Radiology service to the population of Herefordshire Health District plus a catchment population from mid Wales and referrals from parts of surrounding counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gwent (total population 230,000).Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be required to have broad radiology experience including plain film reporting, barium studies, ultrasound, CT and MRI reporting. The post holder will be expected to participate in the on call rota, REALM meetings, management and audit. A special interest which complements the department would be looked on favourably.Wye Valley NHS Trust Hospital is a purpose built PFI acute District General Hospital. The imaging department opened in February 2002 and has an excellent range of equipment. Carestream Health PACS/RIS offers the Trust wide image distribution solution and this was further upgraded during 2020, and is still ongoing.The job plan and proposed timetable will be organised to meet the needs of the department and will be by mutual agreement. Job responsibilitiesApplications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist post at the Wye Valley NHS Trust (WVT).A full time (10 PA) Consultant post is being advertised. The post has arisen due to increased demand, and to staff the new CDU which is expected to open in August 2025. The post is intended to be whole-time, but applications would be considered from candidates wishing for personal or domestic reasons to work part-time.The successful candidate will join the existing establishment of 18 Consultant Radiologists.Radiologists in providing a comprehensive Radiology service to the population of Herefordshire Health District plus a catchment population from mid Wales and referrals from parts of surrounding counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gwent (total population 230,000).The post holder should have broad radiology experience including plain film reporting, barium studies, ultrasound, CT and MRI. Specialist interest in interventional radiology is required. Experience or willingness to develop an interest in urology would also be welcomed.The post holder will be expected to take part in departmental audit and clinical governance issues, provide training and education to medical and other departmental staff as required and participate in Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) Meetings.The post holder will be required to participate in the on-call rota.Person Specification

  • FRCR
  • Full GMC Registration

  • Higher degree (MD/PhD etc)

  • Appropriate training in Radiology
  • Wide experience in all aspects of Radiology

  • Practical skills commensurate with the above

  • Widespread broad-based knowledge in all aspects of Radiology

Audit Management & IT

  • Clinical Audit experience
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance framework of NHS. Understanding of current changes in the management and organisational structures of NHS
  • Ability to work within these parameters
