SCI446824Transitional Assistant Professor in Responsible Artificial IntelligenceWe are looking for a Transitional Assistant Professor to lead innovative research in the area of Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to teach in the School of Computer Science. This post is focused on research within the Responsible AI UK (RAI UK) programme for the first three years. This new programme will allow the role holder to collaborate with teams of researchers and academics across top universities in the UK. The role holder, having recently completed or soon be completing their PhD, will have the potential to grow an international reputation in their field.The role holder will receive the necessary support to establish themselves as an independent academic, whilst developing and maintaining a successful research portfolio. Initially, this post will enable the employee to focus on contributing to and advancing RAI UK’s interdisciplinary research agenda, with a reduced and managed teaching workload for three years. The role holder will gradually transition to a standard Assistant Professor role in the School of Computer Science. There will be opportunities to develop experience in leadership, management, and co-ordination of initiatives.A PhD in computing is not required, but the candidate must be able to contribute to teaching within the School’s core computer science curriculum. The role holder is likely to have research experience in areas relevant to Responsible and Trustworthy AI, including but not limited to Responsible Innovation, Human-Computer/Robot Interaction, Fairness, Accountability and Transparency, Diversity & Inclusion, Explainable AI, Technology Law & Regulation, Psychology, Sociology, Digital Humanities and Science and Technology Studies.The role holder will work with interdisciplinary researchers in Horizon Digital Economy Research and the Mixed Reality Lab, and will have access to work with robots in the Cobot Maker Space ( ).The role holder will have initial experience in developing and securing research grant income, and have an established national and growing international reputation in their field, with a proven track record of publishing peer reviewed research.
