The British Embassy Copenhagen is recruiting a hard-working, dynamic and business-minded Senior Business Development Specialist (Inward Investment) to join its Global Business Development. Why should you apply? Working as part of the Global Business Development team with guidance and support from the International Team Leader, the Senior Business Development Specialist (Inward Investment) leads the design and delivery of a series of customer engagements. These engagements should stimulate customer specific demand and commitment to visit Scotland and will result in the preparation of a proposal document to assist and persuade the customer that Scotland is the preferred location for their international expansion.
A focus of this role (but not exclusively) will be on Energy Transition (e.g. Offshore Wind, Hydrogen) as well as Technology (e.g. Data and Digital). It is being expected that the jobholder also generates leads where appropriate and supports senior / VIP visits into market. |

Essential on arrival: |
- Fluency in both oral and written English and Danish (minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*);
- Knowledge of the industry and Nordics corporate ecosystems in the area of focus areas Energy Transition and Technology;
- Expert knowledge of Consultative Sales and business development practices
- Good knowledge of relevant networks and intermediaries and ability to use these to leverage projects for Scotland;
- Customer relationship management skills, with high levels of confidence and credibility in dealing with a wide range of personnel;
- Diagnostic, strategic challenger, influencer and strong facilitation skills;
- A skilled communicator and negotiator, able to develop relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

- This is a full-time, fixed-term (2 years) contract subject to a 3-month probation period;
- 35-hours working week with a focus on work-life balance, this role is primarily office-based. Flexible working of 1-2 days may be possible, subject to line manager agreement.
