All appointments will be made on merit or skill and experience relative to the role.Department of SociologyAssistant Professor in SociologySalary is no less than £64,552 (pay award pending) and the salary scale can be found on theThe Department of Sociology at LSE seeks to hire an outstanding Assistant Professor in the field of urban sociology, who can demonstrate expertise in the social and spatial life of the city, and how planning and/or design impacts urban life. The post will add to our internationally renowned innovative and publicly engaged faculty. Expertise and research interests in cities and social change, urbanisation in the global south, and/or urban environmental issues is desirable.The post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high-quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department and participating in the School and wider Department activities.Candidates should have a completed PhD in Urban Sociology or closely related field by the start date of the post. The ability to teach urban social theory and analysis at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including on the Department’s MSc City Design and Social Science programme, is essential. Experience in teaching city planning and/or a city design studio at postgraduate level is desirable.
