An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated maternity specialist dietitian to join our small, friendly team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. The hospital, which is a teaching hospital, is the largest specialist provider of health services for women and babies in Europe. We work under a service level agreement with Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust and benefit from the support and learning opportunities that larger teams can provide.Our team of dietitians working in Women’s Health, provide an inpatient service to the maternity and gynaecology wards. The team also deliver outpatient clinics (both face to face and remote) for diabetes in pregnancy, gynaecological oncology, and maternity services. This is an exciting time to join our expanding team as the service is undergoing a restructure with continuous improvements to the nutrition and dietetic provision across the Trust. We have future plans to integrate dietetics into important care pathways such as the LWH fertility service at the Hewitt centre and the successful candidate will have an important role in supporting these developments.Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a dietitian with excellent clinical and communication skills, experience of working in the NHS and of working with patients with complex needs. As clinical lead for maternity services the post holder must have a significant in-depth level of nutritional understanding across preconception pregnancy and acquired through experience within the specialism. Training and study will be supported as required. The post holder will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate expertise to help prevention of gestational diabetes, manage patients with complex pregnancies, undernutrition in pregnancy and ensure good preconception practices and promote nutrition education among midwives, medical and fertility teams.The post holder will need to be able to work both independently and as part of a team to provide a highly specialised service to patients with complex clinical needs, such as patients with hyperemesis and pregnancy post bariatric surgery. The postholder will need to accurately assess holistic client needs using specialist knowledge and a broad range of nutritional assessment skills, measurements, and techniques.
