About usThe at the Royal Free Hospital is part of the in the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences, which brings together UCL Medical School and five other Divisions spanning clinical and basic biomedicine. Scientists in the Institute conduct immunology and immunotherapeutic research. Our aim is to link our fundamental laboratory research with the specialised clinical interests of our hospital partners.Prof. Benedict Seddon directs an interdisciplinary team, including molecular and cellular immunologists. Key research goals are to gain a greater understanding of how homeostasis and function of different T cell compartments is maintained throughout the life course.About the roleApplications are invited for two MRC funded Post Doctoral Research Associate position in the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation in a research team led by Professor Benedict Seddon. The posts are funded by a five year MRC programme grant entitled “Control of T cell immunity by TNFRSF induced IKK-dependent inflammatory signalling pathways”. The overall aim of the project is to understand how TNFRSF signalling controls cell death and differentiation pathways in developing and effector T cell populations during viral infection (see DOI 10.1016/j.immuni.2019.01.004, 10.1126/scisignal.abo4094, 10.1038/s41418-024-01383-6).The current projects will use powerful mouse genetic tools and multi-omic approaches to define novel mechanisms by which TNFRSF signalling controls T cell fate and function during anti-viral immune responses. The post-holders will be expected to perform the highest quality research under the direction of the Principal Investigator, and to work effectively with other group members.The positions are available until March 2027 in the first instance with options to extend.About youApplicants should have a PhD (or about to be awarded) in a relevant subject, and significant experience of working in a research laboratory. Experience of transcriptomic analysis and viral infection models in mice are also desirable.
