The Sutherland Group seeks a dynamic, analytically minded individual to join the finance organization. The Financial Analyst will report to the Chief Financial Officer and support various activities including Financial Planning and Analysis, Data Analytics, Strategy, Budgeting, Financing, Capital Structure Management, Investor Communications, Corporate Development, and Special Projects. You will have a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally and use quantitative insights to help drive decision-making across the group of companies.The Sutherland Group is an integrated network of heavy industry experts providing supply chain solutions with an offering that extends from equipment and logistics to people and safety. As a Financial Analyst for the Sutherland Group, you will play an integral role in KPI tracking, reporting, and financial planning for the operating companies including Sutco (Trucking and Logistics), BC Eco (Fibre Processing, Harvesting, Roadbuilding, Aggregates, Marine Services), KC (Drilling and Blasting), and Summit (Heavy Duty Repair).We are proud to prioritize the success of our team members by offering a collaborative culture, diversified workplace, competitive compensation plans, benefits, training, and ongoing growth opportunities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will work closely with the CFO supporting financial analysis and strategic initiatives across the growing organization.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses utilizing operational and accounting metrics.
  • Maintain weekly and monthly KPI reports.
  • Support the development and maintenance of short-term and long-term financial forecasts for each business and division.
  • Maintain and refine performance measurements and targets; ensure analytics rigor in decision-making.
  • Prepare and analyze budgets for new and existing projects.
  • Support financing activities and capital structure management.
  • Support corporate development activities including monitoring and analyzing potential targets, financial modeling, and M&A execution.
  • Support and help to drive special projects such as a new business line expansion, expense optimization, and R&D initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSAs a member of the Sutherland Group, we expect you to bring the following to the table:

  • Strong analytical skills, problem solver, and self-starter.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

  • Proficient skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems is an asset.
  • Experience using data visualization tools is an asset.
  • Experience with corporate development and/or financial planning and analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Science or Engineering.
  • Experience in analytically driven roles (finance, consulting, analytics, engineering, etc.) an asset
  • Open to new graduates with exceptional backgrounds and demonstrated abilities through previous summer job or internship experiences.
