Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: East Grinstead
Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30 (Term Time), including midday meals supervisionA primary school in East Grinstead is looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to children who need extra help with their attainment or who have additional special educational needs (SEN). In this role, you will work alongside class teachers to adapt lessons, guide pupils through their work, and supervise midday meals. You must have a solid background working with children with additional needs and varying abilities, and be ready to demonstrate this experience in an interview.Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individual pupils and small groups in class, adapting work to meet their specific learning needs
  • Provide midday meals supervision, ensuring pupils remain safe, engaged, and well-supported
  • Work closely with class teachers to plan interventions and track children’s progress
  • Offer strategies to help pupils develop independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Communicate regularly with colleagues, sharing observations and relevant updates

Essential Experience/Attributes:

  • Proven experience working with children who have additional needs and varying academic abilities
  • Ability to demonstrate strategies and past successes in supporting pupils’ progress and well-being
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
  • Patient, adaptable, and proactive, with a commitment to inclusive education
