Offer DescriptionWe are excited to announce a PhD studentship focused on harnessing wide-bandgap perovskites for energy harvesting and clean fuels. The position is embedded within our dynamic , led by Prof. , at the , (Canada). Our Group is at the forefront of research in perovskites and other printable semiconductors, with the goal of gaining insights into and engineering their photoelectronic properties to enhance the performance of solar cells and optoelectronic devices.The student will focus on developing wide-bandgap perovskites for integration in photovoltaic devices for energy harvesting and clean fuel production.While researching at the Sustainable Optoelectronics Research Group, the student will pursue a . This program will equip the student with the knowledge and skillset needed to tackle the sustainability challenges of our time.Key Application Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s in Sustainable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Science, Mechatronics Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Nanotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or cognate disciplines.
  • Proficiency and demonstrated experience in perovskite photovoltaics research, encompassing various aspects such as the synthesis of halide perovskites, the production of perovskite solar cells, and the characterization of both their materials and device properties.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence with a cumulative grade point average of 80% or higher in all prior degrees.
  • Demonstrated excellent command of the English language.
  • Compliance with all Simon Fraser University

for graduate studies. * Eligibility for a study permit for Canada if you are not a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.

  • Availability to start the program in May 2025.
