Offer DescriptionWe are excited to announce a PhD studentship focused on harnessing indoor light with photovoltaic devices-similar to solar cells-to power the increasing number of smart devices that will make our homes and cities smarter and more sustainable. The position is embedded within our dynamic , led by Prof. , at the , (Canada). Our Group is at the forefront of research in photovoltaics for smart, sustainability-focused applications, with the goal of gaining insights into and engineering these devices to enhance their performance and applicability.The student will focus on developing methods to characterize photovoltaic devices for indoor energy harvesting in realistic settings, aiming to identify strategies to improve their energy output under various environmental conditions.While researching at the Sustainable Optoelectronics Research Group, the student will pursue a . This program will equip the student with the knowledge and skillset needed to tackle the sustainability challenges of our time.Key Application Requirements:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s in Sustainable Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Science, Mechatronics Systems Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, or cognate disciplines.
- Proficiency and proven experience in using electrical instrumentation and programming.
- Demonstrated academic excellence with a cumulative grade point average of 80% or higher in all prior degrees.
- Demonstrated excellent command of the English language.
- Compliance with all Simon Fraser University
for graduate studies. * Eligibility for a study permit for Canada if you are not a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.
- Availability to start the program in May 2025.
